This turned out the be the WORST complimentary thing to give on a 4 hour bus ride with no toilet on board, and no bathroom breaks. Especially for a person with a bladder the size of a 3 year old! To top this off, I came down with a terrible case motion sickness. I tried to move to the front of the bus and sit on the little fold-down seat near the driver, however he basically told me to bugger off. Showing him a “I’m-going-to-throw-up” gesture didn’t seem to draw any sympathy from him 🙁
Jonker Walk is a food, shopping and heritage area that lies along the street of Jalan Hang Jebat. It is also known as Melaka Chinatown, being distinctly Chinese in culture and appearance, while the businesses and shops are also mostly run by local Chinese traders. This is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Melaka.
It was a hot, humid night, so I bought this fan to cool myself off.
Justin thought this sign was pretty funny.
The fading sky was pretty.
Chinese New Year decorations
A beautiful little bar/ resturant.
We headed back to the Discovery Cafe (where we had bought our bus tickets) to watch a live band, and enjoy some some food on our last night in the lovely city of Melaka. The band was pretty good, so we sang along happily while we sipped a drink or two. The following morning we were set to take a bus to Kuala Lumpur.
Just outside the cafe was a lady making interesting tea combinations. They seemed to be for colds (and overall health). It was fascinating to watch her… It kept me entertained for a while.
My backpack – New additions: Singapore and Malaysia
(I carry a needle and thread so that I can keep attaching flags as we travel to new places)
The following morning we woke up early to pack our bags and get ready for the bus ride. The taxi picked us up, and the driver kindly told us which platform to wait on. We didn’t have anything more than a couple crackers in a our backpacks, so Justin grabbed some McDonalds, and I found some yogurt for breakfast. Yes… some people can eat anything, and still look great 😛
Once on the bus, we were pretty excited to get to Kuala Lumpur.
Our mapped route: Melaka – Kuala Lumpur
Off we go…
