Last week Tuesday, on our third wedding anniversary, Justin came home with a few surprises for me. We are really not big on giving gifts to each other. I’m sure the fact that we live in China plays a big role in that. However, I think that even if we did live some place more “convenient”, we still don’t feel much of a need to give each other gifts. We like to do little surprises and notes on a daily basis, so when special days come, it is more about Justin coming home with something for me. You’d think that I feel bad, especially when it’s OUR anniversary… but I show him love in other ways. Nice meals, baked goodies, and date nights. Justin’s love language is not “gift giving” so I know that he doesn’t really need/ want anything. He’s a simple guy, and I love that about him. To be honest, I’m a pretty simple gal too, so it’s easy to please each other. We prefer cuddles and quality time over extravagant gifts.
This year Justin bought me a cute leather wallet to celebrate our third year of marriage. The list of traditional wedding anniversary gifts varies slightly from country to country, but leather seems to be a consistent one for the third anniversary. He also got me a few new nail colors, some Lindt dark chocolate (which I’m saving for after Whole30), and a bunch of red roses. I love it when he picks out nail colors for me – his reasoning for each color is always so sweet. One of the shades he got me this month was a green which he said I should wear on my birthday next month, St.Patrick’s Day.
I am infinitely blessed.
