Melkbos Strand (Afrikaans for “Milkbush beach”) is a coastal village and beach located on the South West Coast of South Africa, 35km north of Cape Town. The town and its 7km stretch of white sand beach is situated on the Atlantic coast with Blouberg mountain to the east. This beach is popular with surfers.
One sunny afternoon, we took a drive to Melkbos with my father. This was the week that Elijah suddenly decided that he hated his carseat. We had been on a longish drive the day before, and we thought that he had simply just grown tired of being in the seat, but before we had even rolled out of the driveway on this day, he was already getting upset. He ended up crying almost the whole way there. I had not had an opportunity to take any 8 month photos of him, so we dressed him real cute and took the camera along. Turns out this was NOT the day for him to be photographed, and he was miserable almost the entire time at the beach. So although we didn’t get good pictures of Elijah in the sand, we got some nice ones of both of us holding and playing with him. Check out the pouty lip in some of these… Even his fussy face makes us smile!
