Day 6: Mount Rushmore
I was very excited to see Mount Rushmore because I had seen it in movies. This was a famous place, and I was there! We had learnt the day before that the heads on Mount Rushmore are only the size of Crazy Horse’s face. So when we arrived there, we realised just how HUGE the completed Crazy Horse sculpture will be!
Tourism is South Dakota’s second-largest industry, and Mount Rushmore is the state’s top tourist attraction. The memorial hosts nearly 3 million visitors a year.
The Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into the granite of Mount Rushmore near Keystone, South Dakota. It features 60 foot (18m) sculptures of the heads of the four United States presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Rooseveld, and Abraham Lincoln.

You can barely notice Mt Rushmore behind Justin
We had woken up very early to leave the KOA camp grounds and drive to Mount Rushmore, so we were all feeling a little sleepy and hungry. This was a great start to the day, but some of us already needed a nap. Justin (cough) …Dodge (cough)!
Justin and Dodge both fell asleep while doing crosswords.
At least Dodge put put his pen down. Come on Justin!
We stopped for brunch at Cowboy Cafe… Yeee Haw!
Look at all those cowboy hats!
