Moving into June *ONE YEAR AGO*
**I wrote this post a year ago, and somehow it got lost in my drafts. When I found it, I knew that I would enjoy looking at it a year later. And what do you know… It is June already!** BLACK = 2016; BLUE = 2017
Moving into June. I don’t know how, but suddenly we are in the middle of the year. It honestly feels like a couple of weeks ago we were just starting 2016. How the heck did we get to June already?! Every now and again we do a post called “Lately”, and this is basically the same. A little bit of this, and a little bit of that. The weather has been up and then down lately. We had an absolutely amazing week of glorious blue skies about two weeks ago, and then it all went grey and yucky again.
Yup, pretty much exactly the same this year. The weather is gorgeous for a week, and then back to yucky and grey again. These in-between seasons tend you tease one quite a bit!
We have been a number of walks, and even some in the opposite direction (i.e towards the Laoshan mountain range, not along the beach). There is a wonderful bicycle track going towards the mountain, and it makes jogging so much more pleasant.
I love the view from our dining room window. In the morning, the school located across the road, plays the same few pop music songs. It is so soothing – perhaps because I actually understand the words! The “ice cream truck” sounds that come out of the street cleaning machines is nowhere near as soothing.
Night or day, I love looking out the window in our dining room.
You won’t believe what how much this view has changed. I wish that I had taken a picture of the view from my dining room every day. Or even better, a 1 second video clip. I would have loved to have seen the changes in motion. Well, I have seen them in motion… but I wish I could have shown it to all of you. I used to LOVE my view from the large window where I stand to write down my To Do list for the day, as I sip on my morning coffee. The view has changed dramatically, and honestly, I am not looking forward to the bright flashing mall that is about to replace the school!
Look at the same view this year…
On a mission to find some sticks and leaves. I wish that Eli would walk with me. He is constantly running away, so I can’t even sit down and let him play. Because he disappears and there are cars in our complex. He runs even faster if I walk after him. It is quite frustrating – but hopefully he will grow out of it soon!
And Grow Out of it, he did…
Eli used to be crazy about going into these bushes, but over the last few months he has changed so much. The way that he behaves outside is so different now. I’ve discussed this many times before – because I am really amazed. We used to dread taking him outside because all he would do is run from us. These days, he listens, interacts, and walks close by us.
Last year, I did a post on Eli and his “Big Boy Baozi”.
Nothing much has changed with regards to Eli’s love of these steamed bread dumplings, filled with meat or vegetables. He still loves them. I still love them – except I have been a lot less resistant to my love for them over the last year. Which is why I’m not surprised that I am currently carrying around extra weight at the moment!
… And those eyes?!
STILL 100% as gorgeous.
My oh my, how quickly a year flies by. I look at these pictures, and I feel like this is exactly what Eli looks like right now. And then I turn to look at him, and I am amazed. He has grown and changed so much. More than his appearance, his behavior has changed (for the better, of course). We love love love this kid. He is just too precious for words!
Happy June Everyone!
