Not Just Another Shoot
For my second last shoot for 2016, Justin and Eli decided to come along with me so that they could explore a new playground. You might notice the cute little face in the picture above (check out the sneak peak from the shoot HERE). This little guy liked me so much that he asked his mother to use my camera to take a picture of the two of us – and this was right in the middle of their family photo shoot. That was definitely a first for me!
The morning wasn’t too cold to begin with, but it was really foggy. I left Justin and Eli to play on the jungle gym while I wandered off, with the Wyres, into the complex gardens. There were plenty of photo opportunities so we didn’t come back for almost the entire hour. At the end of the shoot, the Wyre Family kept asking us to come up to their apartment for some coffee and a snack. Initially we didn’t want to impose, but after much insistence we accepted the kind offer. Sitting in their home, we chatting about life as expats, moving to new countries, China, and kids. We always appreciate when we click with other families – the kids played and us adults chatted away in the lounge.
FYI – those are NOT real flowers… hahaha!
Although very pretty, sweet delicate blossoms like this would never survive these winter temperatures.
We eventually ended up going to lunch together, and the Wyre’s treated us to some amazing dumplings and other Chinese dishes. We really enjoyed the food and great company! I usually head straight home after my shoots, but this certainly was a nice mix of work and play. Here are some pictures from our morning, before the shoot and then during lunch.
Now there’s a child who is born and raised in Asia! He can’t yet control chopsticks, but he happily eats from them with our assistance. What’s more, he will eat whatever we are eating. I always chuckle when we eat with foreign friends and they ask if Eli needs a special portion of something western, like chicken nuggets. haha!
Thank you to the Wyre Family for a wonderful lunch.
