If you’re not following us on Instagram and Facebook, you might have assumed that we have been M.I.A for the last two weeks. Don’t worry – everything is fine. In fact, we are great! We just arrived back in China after two glorious weeks on the wonderful island of Bali in Indonesia. We went back and forth on whether or not we should travel over Chinese New Year this year, but in the end, we made a snap decision to book flights, three days before the time, to Bali. Usually we send out a few blog posts while we are traveling, but with a toddler onboard things are a little different and we were often using our iPad, which we would previously use to do blog posts, as a sound machine while he slept, and for entertainment when we want to sit still and all Eli wanted to do was run around and explore. The rest of the time we were either sightseeing, swimming, or spending time together as a family.
Our Bali getaway turned out to be JUST what we needed, and we are both so happy that we made the decision to go. Ironically, we had previously resounded ourselves to the fact that this might just be the first winter vacation where we didn’t leave China. Turns out that despite living in China for four years, we have still never welcomed in the Chinese New Year from within the country (which isn’t a bad thing since celebrations seem to be way more festive – and much less obnoxiously loud – in other Asian countries). We began the Year of the Monkey in Bali, and as mentioned before, we decided to “start the year over” because we weren’t too happy with how things were going since January 1st rolled round. Our newly begun 2016 has been amazing so far, and we look forward to a year filled with lots more laughter, enlightenment, adventure, and love.
More on our Bali getaway coming soon!
