Great news – Our little man got his passport this week. It’s amazing how quickly we could organise this since he only just turned one month old and he already has it is his hands (literally, haha).
As a foreigner living here, if you have a baby in a city with no Chinese Embassy, there are two trips necessary in order to get your child a passport. We made the first trip when Elijah was only 8 days old, and we were told to pick up the passport in about two weeks from then. In order to do that, another trip to Beijing was necessary. It is quite expensive and time-consuming to go all the way to the capital just to pick up one thing, so we tried to find another way to get the passport back to us. Luckily for us, one of our students was going to the Embassy for an interview so he picked it up for us and brought it back to Qingdao. We are very grateful, not only for the time this saved us, but for the money we would have had to spend on getting to Beijing and back again.
Little Elijah therefore has a passport and can start travelling with us. Without a Chinese visa, he can leave but not re-enter this country, so we are organising that for him in this coming week. Fortunately, our school will organise all of that for us and we don’t have to worry about a thing.
Welcome to the World of Travel and Adventure Elijah!
