Our Sweet Water Baby
There’s no denying that Elijah loves bathing. From the very first time we put him in his little bathtub, he has never even slightly complained. He just lays there looking at us… and now that he can smile, he sometimes does that too, all the more confirming that he really does love water. While we were in the hospital after his birth, the nurses offered to bath him and “take him swimming” but we declined since we didn’t want to get his umbilical cord wet. Actually it was more because we didn’t want to let him out of our sight. At only a day or two days after childbirth who would want to be separated from their baby for more than a minute?!
Wide-eyed and cute, Elijah just lays in his bathtub water looking at us. Now that he is a little bigger, we hold his head with one hand and let him float with only his face out of the water and the rest of his body submerged. We know he really loves this because he moves his arms and legs slowly through the water, and remains calm at all times.
Over the past couple of weeks there have been a couple of occasions that Elijah has almost gone swimming with mommy but unfortunately our plans keep changing. We hope to take him to a nearby hotel to have his first swim soon. Since we don’t have a swimming pool of our own here, that is the next best option. We already have some swimming diapers and we are ready to go.
