We did as little as possible while we were in the Philippines, and if that’s all you want to do while on Boracay Island, you won’t be disappointed. We never went too far from our beach, and yet there was never a second that we were bored! Today we would like to show you some our explorations during our time there. And even though they were not crazy or adventurous, they were all part of the chilled vibe that we so much appreciated!
Just behind the string of hotels and beach bungalows lining the beach, were some local houses and restaurants. We were surprised at how undeveloped certain parts of the island were, compared to other resort areas. That being said, we definitely felt like the area around White Beach was not overly developed so it was a perfect place to go. I am sure that in a few years all of that will change – as it has in Thailand.
Walking around the stalls and clothing stores near the beach was relaxing and pleasant. There were no crowds – it felt like we had landed in heaven and we never wanted to leave. This is exactly how we would be happy to live for the rest of our lives.
When deciding where to eat dinner is your toughest decision in life – you know you are in paradise! There were more options than we would have liked! I say that because with all the choices and limited time on the island – there were many places that we would never get to try. Most of the restaurants offered buffets, seafood, or some sort of grill/ bbq special. We tried many different things, visiting a new spot every evening. One evening we even decided to try some Mexican food at a place called Mañana.
After dinner and cocktails we would often need a walk to help settle our stomaches. The air was warm and the beaches were quiet, so we walked along the shoreline looking over the water. Sometimes we would sit in the sand and talk about everything and nothing. The locals built the most amazing sandcastles and at night they would light them up with candles so that tourists could take pictures. For a small fee they would add your name to the masterpiece, so that you could get a snapshot with your personalised sandcastle.
The rest of our evening was usually spent chatting on the beach until we felt like another cocktail, or we would just venture back to our bungalow and go to sleep since we were exhausted from all the sun and swimming.
