Peanut Butter Sandwiches
Usually, after our morning workout, I make a super-duper delicious sandwich for Justin to take to work. My dad did this me, right until I finished high school, so I really love doing it for Justin now. Lately I have been a real slacker! As I have mentioned, I just don’t feel like working out, eating healthy or even drinking water. It is really not a good place for me to be, but gosh, motivation is scarce these days! For that reason, we haven’t been getting up at 5am consistently. There are therefore days when Justin gets a very simple peanut butter and jam sandwich instead of the gourmet type.
Sometimes Justin will make a sandwich to eat for breakfast, and then make one for Eli too. Little man is now so hooked on these peanut butter morning sandwiches, that he starts giggling and jogging on the spot when I reach for the bread and peanut butter.
Eli is often in the kitchen. He plays with the tupperware in the bottom drawer, he packs and unpacks the pantry shelf. I really don’t think anything of him being in there. Yesterday morning I heard him in the kitchen. He makes little grunts and sighs, and mumbles some words as he does things. I can usually tell what he is doing just by the sounds coming from the kitchen. I heard him get his stool (which he stands on to reach the basin), then take something from the shelf, and finally, he got something out of the tuperware drawer. Next… nothing. A minute later, he came and took my hand. Eli doesn’t talk much. He just does actions for things that he wants. Only occasionally will he actually say a word or two.
He took me to the kitchen. “Bwed” he said, pointing up at the top shelf, where we keep the bread. I turned around and on the kitchen counter was the peanut butter, one of his plates, and his beginner chopsticks. While I got the bread, he jumped onto his chair – ready to make his sandwich!
He then tried to open the bread bag, with his chopsticks!
SO STINKING CUTE!
He was being super darn cute – but I stepped in to him make the sandwich that he so desperately wanted. I am so happy that I put my phone on the counter and hit record. Especially because it was only when I watched it back that I got to see the hilariously cute faces that he was making.

I love how he tries to bite the sandwich three times before we are even done.
This kid makes all of our days so much sweeter. He is amazing.
