Peter Pan Musical
During our second week in Cape Town this year, we decided to check out the Peter Pan Musical at Canal Walk Theatre. Actually, this wonderful idea was all my step-mom’s. Yolanda wanted to do a few fun activities with us, so this was one of two live shows that we watched in that week. WHAT FUN! Eli is a great age for this sort of live entertainment. In fact, he has always loved live entertainment, the more lights and music, the better. When he was a baby, we went to an 80’s show at the Barnyard Theatre, and he was mesmerized! Now that he is older, he LOVES these shows but we don’t really have much of this type of thing in China. This was therefore a really great idea – Thank you for treating us Landie!
“Follow Wendy and The Lost Boys into the whimsical world of Neverland this winter.”
Peter Pan, Tinkerbell and the Darling children transported theatre-goers into the amazing wonders of Neverland. The showstopping and star-studded cast presented a musical version of the well-loved children’s story, Peter Pan. Since it was the winter school holidays while we were in Cape Town, it appeared that we had arrived in perfect timing!
The musical is an original by the award-winning duo, Fred Abrahamse and Marcel Meyer, who have throughout their career had regular appearances on stages across South Africa, Europe and America. There was along line outside the entrance to the show, but we still managed to get inside and find seats in the second row from the stage. BRILLIANT!
The show covered everything from the mysterious mermaids of Mermaid Lagoon and the ever-so evil Captain Hook to the courageous and stunning Indian Princess Tiger Lily and the comedic Lost Boys. There wasn’t a moment without enchantment!
We thought that we were making good time, and Eli was thoroughly enjoying the show! However, it soon become evident that it was just too close to nap time for this little guy. Towards the end of the show…
He simply lay down on the floor to take a nap! This kid just cracks me up.
We loved the show, and sharing this experience between the four of us. We tried to get my father to come, but he wasn’t having it. hahaha. A great show!
