Seventeen. That’s how many months this little guy has been amazing us with his cuteness. We still look at each other and softly squeal with delight when he does something sweet. And he seems to make us do that pretty frequently. It is a blessing to have wanted a child, prayed for a child, and then to sit back and watch them grow, soaking up their presence and admiring their ways. Elijah is truly one awesome little kid!
Here he is, playing on a wooden swing in our apartment complex yesterday. On his 17 month birthday.
Like his momma, he was born on the 17th, so this is his first crown birthday. The next (and proper) one will be on his 17th birthday. I shudder to think how quickly that birthday might come… so for now, we take all the slobbery kisses, cuddles, and sharing of soggy crackers we can get. Once every few nights Elijah wakes up during the night. Justin and I go up to his room together and sit by his crib singing to him. We hold hands and smile at each other as we sit on the warm fluffy rug next to Elijah’s crib. Even when we are tired, we try to enjoy these special moments. He grabs one of our hands and wraps his whole body around it while he falls back asleep. We know that these days are numbered, and soon he will need us less. While he still needs us, we love comforting him together. We have to appreciate every single day we are blessed with.
We love you Elijah James.
We love that silly face!
