The Shilaoren Sightseen Garden provides panoramic views of both Shilaoren beach and the Wushan mountain range. Amongst great traditional Chinese architecture, monks can even be seen living and praying in the temple. Since this is known as an ideal afternoon getaway for a quiet and peaceful rendezvous with nature, we decided to spend a Sunday exploring the garden which is located a couple of bus stops from our apartment. This has been on our list of things to do, and although we didn’t expect much from the gardens, we were pleasantly surprised by what they had to offer.
The entrance fee to the gardens during peak season is 60rmb per adult. It turns out that we went on the last peak weekend of the season, and since then the price has dropped to 40rmb. We were not sure if the drop in entrance fee would mean more crowds, less crowds, less fall leaves, or missing out on the chance because of cold winds, so we took this as our opportunity to explore the Shilaoren Sightseeing Garden with our boy.
We had a wonderful time exploring the garden, and we even hiked to the top of the mountain and visited a reptile farm. We took a ridiculous amount of photos, as usual, because there was just so much to take in. We will post pictures on those other two in the next week. The views from the top of the mountain were well worth the experience. Elijah fell asleep at the summit, so we moved him from the hiking carrier to the Ergo, and bundled him up so that he could sleep warm and comfy. Justin did a great job of carrying little man down the mountain-side, and he woke up again while we were waiting for the bus which would take us home (picture on the left).
We live so close to the Shilaoren Sightseeing Garden that we can see the temple on the mountain while we are out walking. If you are in Qingdao, you should definitely check these gardens out. They are so tranquil and pretty. The closest Bus Stops are Shi Lao Ren Guan Guan Guang Yuan zhan: #304, #301, #104, # 802 and Shi Lao Ren Zhan: #362.
