Sniffing the blossoms. I absolutely love watching my husband and son interact. When we are inside they read books, go in the playroom and play with cards, and side-by-side watch Wallykazam (looking equally entertained). When we are outside a lot of the time, Elijah is running and Justin is following him to make sure he doesn’t fall through a random drain cover. But there are those incredibly sweet moments when Justin carries Elijah and talks to him. He has been doing this since Eli was a tiny baby. At the newborn stage, during the dreaded 5-7pm “witching hour”, Justin would carry our tiny bundle around the apartment, pointing at pictures on the wall, and telling him stories about each one. Elijah always responded so well. He would stop crying and look at whatever Justin was pointing at. It seemed that he was hanging onto every word. Almost two years have passed, and I still see them doing this. Now Elijah points too, he babbles words, and he interacts with Justin.
On this late afternoon walk out in our apartment complex, I hid behind some bushes and took pictures of Elijah and Justin and they spoke about the blossoms. We’ve taught Eli to sniff the flowers, and I have to admit, my heart melts every time because he squishes his little face and leans towards a flower. Perhaps he is not actually sniffing – but he sure does a good impersonation of what daddy is doing. The below pictures might look a bit repetitive, but this is a wife’s/ momma’s moment in which I admire my two most amazing blessings on earth. Each of these pictures makes me smile… (so forgive me if they all seem a little too familiar to you!)
Above, that picture is my FAVORITE!
Look at that little nose!
These are the flowers that they are sniffing. There are massive trees containing these beautiful purple flowers all over our neighborhood. It truly is a wonderful sight to be able to look at these beauties after a long harsh winter. This isn’t a day when I don’t pass by them, then smile and thank God for his providence.
Oops, they spotted me! The paparazzi got caught out. Justin doesn’t look like he minds, but Elijah looks mildly unimpressed that I have been hiding away and taking pictures of them “in their moment”. My guys – I’m so thankful for them!
