Switzerland River Stop│Yesterday we showed you some pictures from our drive through the Bernese Oberland. Since we didn’t see much signage, I can’t tell you what river, or which bridge we stopped at… but nevertheless, we stopped. We parked the car, and got out to stretch our legs, walk down to the river below, and check out an old wooden bridge. THIS is why we love road trips. In fact, this little stop made this mama so happy that I was grinning from ear to ear. I LOVE this! Random little finds along the way. Mysterious little places that no one knows about. Places without signs. Wooden bridges so old that they creek as you walk over them. And water such an intriguing shade of turquoise, that you want to jump right in!
It is not very clear in the picture below, but there is snow on the mountains in the distance. As you can imagine, this river was therefore rather chilly. I loved the refreshing feeling of my feet in the cool water. We were shaded from the sun where we parked and got out to explore, so the air was fresh. And although it wasn’t cold, there was a definite coolness in the air. It was invigorating!
At this wooden bridge, there were hiking/ trail path signs. Later I found this awesome website: Scweizmobil.ch/en.
With this website, and also the Free Switzerland Mobility App available via that link, you can access the entire Swiss network for non-motorized traffic. Hiking, cycling, mountain biking, skating an canoeing – you can literally get around Switzerland on no wheels at all. AMAZING! I can’t wait to return to Switzerland some day, and explore it thoroughly via hikes and water sports. That site also contains rail, bus and boat information, and a section where you can “Plan your own Tour”. Check it out!
As soon as we climbed back into the car, I dived straight back into my Swiss Alp Yogurt. This was, without a doubt, the best yogurt I have ever eaten in my life. When I think back on it, I feel a little sad. I wish I could eat yogurt like this every darn day of my life!
