Sydney: Time to Unwind!
Last year, after YEARS of thinking about it, I finally took the plunge and started a photography business. I never imagined that things would sky-rocketed in the way that they did – but I am INCREDIBLY humbled by the way that people have responded to my work. It has been rather surreal, and although I am truly grateful, I have to admit, I was exhausted after three months of working afternoons and 4-5 shoots every week. I needed a break.
Our trip to Australia snuck up on us quicker than we could have imagined, and because I had been so busy, we really didn’t have much time to plan what we would be doing on our vacation. A week or two before we were set to leave, Justin booked most of our hotels. The last few were booked in the two days before we flew out! Usually we like to see “where the road will take us” but when it came to NZ it seemed that there weren’t many last minute options left, so we needed to get some sort of plan together.
Since October to December were busy busy busy – you can’t imagine how relieved we were when we finally got on the plane and start our journey to Australia. We knew that New Zealand would be quite busy. There was so much that we wanted to see and do there. However, for Australia, we just wanted to relax and unwind. Justin booked us a really nice hotel and we looked forward to sleeping in and enjoying long scenic walks around the city.
Our flights went smoothly and we arrived in Perth (via Melbourne) in the early afternoon on a Sunday. Our only goal for that first day was to settle in, eat something, and then find HILLSONG! When I lived in London I attended this church for the first time. Later, I attended it in Cape Town, before I moved to South Korea. We knew that we really wanted to check out one of the Sydney Hillsongs since Australia is the place where Hillsong started.
Our hotel room was perfect!
We stayed at The Larmont, Sydney, where we had views out two sides of our room. The blue skies and awesome skyline made us smile whenever we entered the room. Although the room wasn’t super spacious, it was everything that we needed and we were so pleased to be able to spend a week unwinding here.
One block away from the hotel we found a “Coles” (an Australian grocery store) and bought a few picnic-type foods to eat for dinner. Even though we reeeeeeally wanted to lie down – that comfy hotel bed was calling our names – we pushed ourselves to get outside and go find the Hillsong church.
A great message about FAITH and some awesome worship!
We were so happy that we found the energy to get ourselves to Hillsong for this message. I did a Instagram post about it…
“cr8ivek80.Hillsong, Sydney. On Sunday night, shortly after arriving in Sydney, we raced over to Hillsong church…. and boy oh boy, what a powerful message we got to hear! We miss this so much more than I could describe and even though it was only one service, we felt blessed to have been there and to have heard such thought-provoking truth about faith!!! ❤ #hillsong#hillsongworship #hillsongsydney #worship#church #thiswemiss #praiseandworship#faith #powerfulmessage #homesick“
Getting back to our hotel after church, we were so relieved to be able to lay down and go to sleep. The view from out hotel was EVEN MORE AMAZING at night. How full of joy and thankfulness we were to be in Australia, and starting yet another awesome adventure together.
