Take a Tent. On our most recent trip, to Indonesia, we decided to take a small fold up beach tent along. In the past, neither of us ever really noticed, or cared much, about finding shade. Wow, all that changed when you had a wee little one to think about. Now we always have to ensure that we have sunblock. More importantly, we need a place for him to play out of the harmful rays of the sun. In fact, in many ways, we were very negligent when it came to our skin before we had Elijah. Since having Elijah, we have come to realize there are so things we took for granted in the past.
As it only has three sides, this little green tent is not for sleeping. It is however really great for shielding the wind and providing shade. We would set it up in our hotel room in Bali, lay down a blanket inside, and then throw in all of Elijah books and toys. He loved having his own little area to play in. There were a number of days when we wanted to be outside but we were concerned about little man getting a sunburn. We therefore set up this tent so that he could play inside it. Most of the the just goof-ed around, popping his head out of the window at the back of it, but still, it kept him out of the sun!
Here are some pictures of Eli playing around with the tent while we lay out next to the pool.
We are considering taking something similar on our trip to Europe this summer. We may, however, need a tent that is better equipt for sleeping. We are not entirely sure what our summer adventure will consist of. One thing is for sure, taking a small pop-up tent was a great decision for our Bali getaway.
Thinking of traveling with little ones – we highly suggest that you TAKE A TENT!
