The Star is On the Tree
Oh yes… It’s that time of the year again! Our MOST FAVORITE time of all. We love love Christmas! Every year, since he was six months old (his first Christmas), our little man has concluded the tree decorations by placing the star/ bow on the top of the tree. This is one of our Christmas traditions We used to use a big red and gold bow, but this year we have an actual star shape. When I was young we always used an angel. Whatever it is that goes on top of the tree… I’m sure there will be many more years of lifting little man up to finish off our decorating fun! We love everything about decorating and getting ready for this festive season. And this year, Eli is in on all of the fun too!
Our gifts, sent with love from Texas, have been under the Christmas Tree for over a week and Eli hasn’t tried to open any of them. He comes downstairs to play, bright and early in the morning (before we are even up) and not one of those presents have been torn into yet. He opened one with Mimi (Grandma Sue) over FaceTime, so he KNOWS that they are real gifts. I love his patience and ability to restrain himself from opening them, even though he really wants to.
There were three mornings in a room where he came to my bedside with one of the bigger presents. He calls it “the giant present” because it is bigger than the others (but definitely not giant in any way). This gift got a little torn while be transported to China, and he can see a few letters on the box, under the wrapping. The fact that he can almost see the gift, but not know what it is, must have been very intriguing to him. BUT STILL, he never opened it!!
Christmas at Home
We were going to celebrate Christmas (i.e. open gifts, take photos, and have a nice meal together) yesterday, but things didn’t go to plan. This coming Saturday afternoon, we are leaving for three weeks in the Philippines. Our “Christmas at Home” therefore has to happen at as some stage this week. It might even tomorrow!
Here is a little look at our Christmas Tree fun in black and white…
