While we were in Xiamen, we covered almost all of the sights on foot. As we were on a budget, we tried not to take cabs, but rather walk where we wanted to go. This turned out to be quite easy because the weather was pleasant, and the roads were clean and safe.
Here are some of the sights we saw on our third day in Xiamen:
This beautiful waterfall was on a busy street, however it would be easy to miss it because of how fast the cars pass by. You need to walk by in order to properly appreciate it.
Tree roots shaped into a eagle.
Old and new contrasts.
Is this how Justin feels next to me?? Omg… I feel awesome!!
It’s like a power trip!
Browsing, no shopping!
Fresh garlic oysters.
Strawberry pancakes. Yummy!
We HAD TO buy sausages from this guy because he was so entertaining!
He only knew a few English words, but he made us laugh quite a bit.
(btw… These were NOT good)
Pancake with sausage and tofu.
Steamed squid and spring onion.
Walking to the main shopping street.. Zhongshan Street.
This dog had glasses on!!
Of course, I had to find the nearest Starbucks for a treat!
The new years decorations along the coast were beautiful.
Night food market.
Fried Rice in a mini wooden barrel. This delicious meal cost 10 yuan ($2) each.
Justin tried the duck, and I had the prawn flavor.
Happy with the new dishes we tried!
Clear broth with lettuce and fish flavored balls.
(Susan – It tasted better than it sounds! I swear!!)
These meals looked and smelt delicious!
Xiamen is beautiful at night too!
The ferry which takes you to the adjacent island (GulangYu).
We were very excited to see the sign, above, for the Xiamen International Marathon.
With only one more practice run to do, we were days away from competing in the marathon!!
