That’s right Ladies and Gentlemen, we moved into a new apartment. For those emailing to ask where we have been (ie. no blog posts for five days), we do not have internet yet, but we should be connected by Monday. It was a long wait for my visa, but at last we were free to move. We started looking for a place shortly after we got news about my new visa status. We viewed a number of apartments over a few days, but there was only one that we really thought was perfect for us.
Initially we thought that a two bedroom would be best, and just to cover all grounds, we even looked at three bedroom places. All of them were pretty decent – wooden floors, air-conditioning, full-furnished, but the one that we loved stuck in our minds. Finally we went back for a second look, and that was when my excitement levels went through the room. Imagine squealing, happy dance, and total wackiness. Yes, not many have witnesses this before, but I get seriously crazy when I’m extremely happy. I think Justin probably questioned my sanity at that point because his happy and my happy are completely different! There is probably not stop on the serotonin in my brain in those moments.
We met with the landlord the following week and she said that we could move in by Thursday/ Friday of last week. I was terribly sick with flu-like symptoms so I had minimal energy last week. However – after some caffeinated cold medicine – I found a surge of energy and packed almost all of our stuff into our bags and boxes. I have no idea how we came here four months ago with only four bags. Suddenly we have heaps and heaps of things, including pillows, towels, an oven, and tons of other household goods. I was so excited that I only left a couple changes of clothes and our necessities out.
It turned out the former tenant was not ready to move out yet, so we are only moved this week. It’s was an extra 4-5 days of waiting with all our bags packed, but we have signed the contract so the deal is sealed. After a few trips back and forth, we have all of our belongings in our new place… and we are busy unpacking, cleaning, and settling in.
These are the buildings located behind ours, so not exactly where we moved, but we just want to show you how far we had to move. It was was as simple as going down the elevator, crossing the road, and then going up another elevator.
The Mosby’s have been wonderfully kind to let us stay with them for so long. None of us knew that this stay would in fact be THIS lengthy, but that visa sure did take long. Although we have now officially moved out of their home, we did not move far. We ended up choosing an apartment in the building right next door to where we have been staying so the Mosby’s and the Essers are now neighbours. It’s been a while since we have been able to fully unpack the bags that we packed in December. In fact, it’s been a whole EIGHT MONTHS of moving around, from country to country, but now we get to make a home for ourselves.
It’s time for this married couple to play house!!!
