Wedding Venue: Lunch Date
During our third week in Cape Town, hubby decided to surprise me with a lunch date at our wedding venue. We got married on a wine estate in Paarl, and even though we had hoped to visit it on our last trip home, we never did get around to it. It would have been super special to take our little man with to the venue, but Justin wanted us to enjoy a little alone time so he asked my folks to watch Eli. With a tasty picnic lunch prepared, we pulled up at Nelson’s and went into the office to buy some wine. We sat down under the same trees where we said our vows, and enjoyed the sweetest date! The weather was absolutely perfect – we couldn’t have asked for a nicer winter day.
After wining and dining under the trees, we walked up to the wedding hall to take a walk down memory lane. It was so surreal walking into the hall – Had it really been four years since we were last there? It felt like just the other day we were in that hall – dancing, laughing, and having the night of our lives. There were tables stacked to one side of the hall, but the middle was open. Being the romantics are we, we slow danced in the center of the hall, just like we did back on February 23rd, 2013.
All Our Favorites
There are some food items that you just LOVE to eat when you go to your home country! Justin is, however, an incredibly supportive husband, and he only got things that were keto-friendly. Surprisingly enough, most of the stuff that I love IS SPOT ON for this keto way of life, so we didn’t feel like we were missing anything. We enjoyed smoked chicken, avocado, pesto, fresh coriander and rocket, cherry tomatoes, mustard, and tons of biltong. Amazing!
In the Same Spot
The above selfie is us standing RIGHT on the spot where we said our vows. I know, I know… we are seriously mushy and romantic. You must love us for us if you’re still reading. hahaha
Slowing dancing, like we did…. 💕
Look at those big smiles!
We walked down to the vineyards and then down to the red dirt road where we took most of our wedding party and couple photos before the reception. As we walked, I remembered the laugher we shared here with our brothers and best friends. I recalled the way I felt holding Justin’s hand and walking in that beautiful wedding dress. What a perfect memory!
Pure, sweet, happy moments!
We walked over to the old stables, which have been converted into rooms, and went to see the room where we spent our wedding night. Again, it all felt so surreal. Walking along the patio, I could almost hear my best friends laughing. Oh how I wish that I could do that day 100 times over again.
We bought wine for my bridesmaids and then, very slowly, left Nelsons. It felt like we could have stayed there for DAYS! In fact, we decided that next time we go to Cape Town, we will rent out some of those rooms and stay there for a weekend with friends.
It was a sweet date. I really appreciate that Justin remembered that we wanted to so this!
Back in the car we realized that it was 21.5 C. Definitely the MOST PERFECT winter weather.
We didn’t get to go on any other dates while we were in Cape Town. The time just flew by, and any time that we had we tried to spend with as many friends and family. I wish that we had been able to do more as a couple, but this one date was worth FIFTY OTHER DATES!
