It has not been been easy getting through the last three months without mentioning anything about our pregnancy. In fact, between the nausea and the inability to say how I really feel, there seemed to be less room in our lives for blogging. This is, after all, the place where we share our feelings, our travel stories, our adventures, and whatever else is on our minds. How could we do that when almost everything that we want to share, has been about one thing: We are going to have a baby!
Our little baby is the size of a poppyseed this week!
Baby this week – Started to form major organs (heart, kidney, liver, stomach) and systems (nervous, circulatory, digestive). At only five weeks, little one is the size of an appleseed now!
Baby this week – Growing like crazy, and the size of a pomergranate seed, baby has started to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet – still webbed – might have started to wiggle by week’s end. The heart is beating (almost twice as fast as mine), and blood is starting to circulate.
By the end of the week waves of nausea started to hit. In fact, I remember the precise moment when they began, and since then they have not stopped! Since that Sunday afternoon, nothing has been the same. Nothing! It was then that I entered into the foggy cloud of nausea that has since controlled my every move!
Baby this week – The size of a blueberry! Baby’s brain is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs have emerged as joints starting to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby’s third) are now in place.
Baby this week – The size of a raspberry! Our baby is growing like mad now, putting on about a millimetre every day, and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Although I can’t feel it yet, baby is moving it’s little arms, legs, and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy!
Weeks 9-12 coming soon!
