How far along? 17 weeks
Total weight gain: After that insanely huge buffet lunch feast this week, I am up 3 lbs again. Haha – it’s hard to really tell what I weigh lately since I fluctuate so much every few days! I’d say that I am up about 25 lbs, and up 35 lbs from my normal weight.
Stretch Marks? Using Bio-Oil from the start of the pregnancy. No stretch marks yet.
Sleep: Sleeping really well. I have a long pillow that goes next to my belly for support, and between my knees. It really helps, but then again I have always needed a pillow between my knees so it’s really just the belly part that makes a difference now. I find myself waking up on my back many mornings, and at this stage I am not supposed to sleep on my back (due to blood flow restrictions caused by the weight of my uterus), but I can’t really control what happens in my sleep so I’m doing my best. At least I am sleeping soundly still – that’s all that matters for now.
Best moment of the week: The school semester ended – Wooohoo! Finally, a well-deserved break! At the end of the week one of my nearest and dearest friends, Tarrin, announced her pregnancy to the world. Although I have known for quite some time, it was so wonderful seeing the reactions to this beautiful news. To be pregnant at the same time as one of your BFF’s is so special, and I am thrilled to be able to share this with her (even if we do have to do so from a distance!)… Happy happy days!
Miss Anything? Proper-fitting bras! Seriously, I am all out in this department and I have been struggling for weeks already. Comments like, “Oh your boobs are only going to get bigger!” don’t really help since people can’t possible imagine how tough it is to have big boobs and no bras! I live in Asia – finding a bra that fits on a normal day is an almost impossible challenge. Right now it’s practically impossible. I have a friend in the UK and another in SA both looking for options for me, and hopefully those arrive after we get back from vacation. I don’t know what we will do on vacation, I guess I will have to be that girl who is popping out my tank tops! Classy!
Baby Movement: YES – little one rolls over or arches his/ her back and I can feel it. If you missed the blog posts where I talked about this, you can link up to that here: Baby Orca Whale. For now there are no kicks or jabs, just “rolling over” movements about 2 inches below my bellybutton. I love them, and can’t wait to feel other kinds of movements.
Food Cravings: I got my cheese-fix at the Le Meridien lunch buffet, and I really can’t think of anything else that I am craving. This seems so weird to me – I though cravings might be fun, but oh well, it’s probably for the best. I have enough extra weight to deal with already!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Only the nasty smells in China – bad breath (very common here, wow – disgusting), sewerage, cooking oil, pollution, and the list goes on.
Gender: We hope to find out at a hospital in Thailand, either in Bangkok or in Chiang Mai. We haven’t decided where we will have the scan done yet, but we will soon. I am eager to find out soon, but then I also feel like every week that we wait means MORE certainty that we WILL find out the sex when do go. I’m still thinking that it’s a girl, and Justin is day-dreaming about a little daughter now. My parents agree, so do my closet friends. The only two people who think it’s a boy are my brother, David, and my mother-in-law, Sue. FYI – Sue said it was a girl, but now she has changed her mind, and she wants us to have a grandson for her. We will know for sure soon enough.
Labor Signs: Nope!
Symptoms: I had a bit of a skin breakout this last week, and I’m not sure why. I pray that it is not the start of something awful! Feeling very full after eating – there’s less room for my stomach in there now since baby is taking up more and more space each week.
Bellybutton in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On for outings, off the rest of the time.
Looking forward to: Thailand in 3 days!
**This may be the last bumpdate for possibly 5 weeks! I can’t imagine not being able to update for that long, but it is a strong possibility. Perhaps we will be able to do written ones, but no pictures… or maybe even vice versa. We will see what we can manage while we are traveling as we won’t have our computers will us.
