How far along? 26 weeks done, and entering into the last week of the second trimester today! The 1st and 2nd trimesters flew by so quickly, but they say that the 3rd feels the longest. We will see what these last three months bring. Who knows? They might fly by just as fast!
Again, I blame the water retention!
Sleep: Another week of uninterrupted and very comfortable sleep, but with all the birthday celebrations I think I have been going to bed too late. Yesterday I was so ridiculously tired that I could barely function at work. I was a zombie-walking. Today I have more energy but I feel like I am coming down with something, presumably because a lot of people are sick right now. I am trying to stay in bed as much as I can to fight off whatever is creeping up on me.
(1) One of my closest friends back in SA finally announced that she was having a boy. I have known for a while, but it was good to finally see it out in the open. I’m soooo excited that she is having a boy because we are very close and now we have this in common too.
(2) On Friday my cousin announced that she too is having a boy later this year!
(3) Early in the week I washed a few outfits that someone gave me for Baby E, and then hung them up with the rest of our clothes. Justin and I couldn’t get over how cute those little onesies looked hanging next to our normal sized clothes. My clothes will no longer be the small ones!
(4) My 30th Birthday celebrations.
Symptoms: I felt big and heavy this week. Towards the end of this week I had a very heavy feeling down below – I have felt this a couple of times before, but I suspect that this feeling will increase as baby grows and we approach his due date. Random surges of heartburn, brought on by the overindulgences this week.
Wedding rings on or off? On most days, but my school is kind of dirty so most of the time I don’t bother wearing my rings. It depends on the day. Sometimes they are tough to get off with all those water weight fluctautions.
Nearly as long as a large zucchini. Baby boy now weights a full two pounds and measures nine-plus inches (or 14 inches from head to heel). This week, his eyes, which until now were developed under fused eyelids, start to open. Of course, there is not much to see in there, but if our baby spots a bright light – or hears a noise – near my belly, I should soon begin to notice an increase in his movements. “Hey, I’m in here Mommy! Where’s the party?” These responses are due to the fact that his brain is now more developed and sophisticated, and therefore he can respond to noises and change in light. Baby might soon begin to feel a little cramped in my uterus, and will thereafter have less rom for those somersaults and cartwheels that I have been feeling.
