After arriving in Cape Town, and spending the first night with the family, I was excited to see some really good friends the next day. On Tuesday evening, Clinton and Catherine (let’s call them “the Blankenbergs” for short) invited us over to their apartment for a braai. Before I arrived in South Africa, Clinton had asked me what he could pick up for me to enjoy in my first couple of days. He knew there were a few things that I would be excited to have, and he wanted to have them waiting for me when we got there. The Blankenbergs fetched us after they finished work and we all went back to their place for the rest of the evening.
Before I arrived, Cat told me that Tayla was absolutely in love with Elijah, and that we would have a full-time babysitter when we hang out with them. After 15 minutes I realized what she meant. Tayla and Elijah LOVE each other. Tayla is almost eleven and has a really life doll. She adores Eli, and even seems a little sad when Cat or I hold him for too long. It’s super cute and it makes me so happy that they have a special bond.
