Oh little one! We are so very excited to meet you, and with each week that passes that excitement grows more and more! There seems to be a lot going on right now, so when I do have moments to sit down and think about how soon you will be here, it just blows my mind. Somehow another week has flown by, and I find myself entering a new week pregnancy! We are in week 36 of your growth and development now, and by next week you will be considered “full term”. I wish we knew when you were going to be born, but no one can say for sure.
I have been following another family’s blog for the last year. They announced that they were pregnant around the same time that we did. Since then I have enjoyed reading the updates on how their baby girl is growing, and how her mommy is doing. She was only one week ahead of me, so I quiet appreciated reading about her developments. When I woke up on Sunday I was shocked to see that this little baby was born earlier that day. It was then that it really hit home for me! Wow, we are so close to the end now!! You could arrive anytime now. Of course, we want you to stay in there until at least 37 weeks, but being in the 36th week now means we don’t have much time until we finally get to meet you.
We finished putting your room together even though we know that you will just sleep in our room with us for a couple of months. Our apartment is not very big and your room is tiny, but so are you, so for now that’s completely okay. Your dad put up some some curtains, he set up your crib, we washed your clothes, put up some decorations, and packed your cupboards. I had fun painting wooden letters that spell out your name. Those letters are now stuck up above your crib. Although you don’t know this yet, your mom is quite creative. There have been times where I have been sad that we don’t really have a proper sized room to decorate as your nursery. Not only that, but living in China makes most crafty and decor projects difficult to impossible. But that’s okay – I can make up for that later. For now, we have everything that we need, and later we will move to a bigger place so that you have more room to play.
Right at the front door stands our hospital bag, all packed and ready to be grabbed on the day that I go into labour. I feel you moving inside me right now – if only you could whisper your due date to me. I’m so intrigued by all of this. When will you arrive? How many more weeks do I have until I see your cute little face? Some of our friends guess that you will come around 37 weeks, others say that you will come exactly on your due date. Sometimes I even wonder if you will be born later that June 25th. Will you be a July baby like your Grandpa Bryan?
For now we can do nothing except wait. We are ready for you little one!
