It’s well-known among my family and friends that I love taking photographs. Even more so, I love editing them. And I definitely enjoy blogging so that I can use those photos to tell stories and share memories. People compliment me and say that they love the pictures that I take, but I’m my worst critic and I really don’t think that I am very good. I was using the same DSLR for almost 5 years, until Justin and I decided to buy a new camera this year. We wanted to be sure to have a nice new camera and lens before Elijah was in our arms. I had full intention of learning how to use my camera properly before he was born, but working full-time while pregnant meant that I never really had time to do that. I could have, and should have, made time for this hobby of mine. But alas, time got away from me and I never did! Now that our sweet son is here I feel the urge to develop this hobby of mine more than I ever have. I presume that this because he literally changes every week and I want to photograph and document it all. Just as I have loved to do this in the other areas of our life, I want to do it with Elijah. For us, for his grandparents, and for all the friends and and family members that we have all over the world. Living as an expat means accepting that our families will inevitably miss various stages of Eli’s life, so we plan to keep them all up to date as much as we can. I therefore not only want to be able to take pictures, but to be able to take beautiful pictures that I can be proud of. I will be staying home with our son now, so this is a perfect time to get working on this hobby of mine. Fortunately for me, I have a great model to work with, and he’s always available for shoots! Here are some pictures that I took of little Eli on his one month birthday. Excuse the amount of foot and toe photos there are – I’m in love with his sweet little feet!
I’m going to start sketching/ drawing too. This is another area of untapped talent that I love and wish to develop. I will share more on that once I get started.
